Hamburgers can range from the simple to the gourmet depending on your taste.  There are days when a pure, pasture-fed, ground meat patty with simple condiments hits the spot, and there are days when we want something a little fancier.  Here are a couple of tips to make your burgers as flavorful as possible and a couple of ways we like to “dress them up.”

  • Simple ground meat (or add a little kosher salt and coarse-ground pepper) works great for simple burgers.
  • For gourmet burgers, consider working in some fresh garlic and/or a little Worcestershire sauce to the meat before shaping the patties.
  • When you form your patties, press the center of the patty down just a bit to form a “dimple” in the middle of the patty.  When the meat swells as it cooks, it will level out, giving you a nice, even bed to hold your lettuce, tomato, onion, and other condiments without the rolling off the side.
  • We love to serve sliders or burgers with caramelized onions, fresh sliced avocadoes, and good cheeses like blue cheese crumbles, Havarti, or pepper jack.
