How much meat are we talking here?

A typical side of beef (half a cow) will consist of 350-375 lbs. of meat.

The number of steaks, roasts, and packages of ground meat will depend on how thick you want your steaks, how big you want your roasts, whether you want to keep stew meat or have it ground, but here’s a general breakdown of what’s in a side of beef:

How much freezer space do I need?

Approximately 7.5 cubic feet of freezer space is needed for a side of beef.  That’s about a 2 ft. x 2 ft. x 2 ft. space.

Can I try it first?

As available, we’ll be happy to sell small sample packs.  Contact us for details and availability.

I don’t have room for that much meat at one time! Is there another option?

If you’d like to split a quarter with someone, contact us and we’ll try to match you up with someone else in your same situation.

Can my kids see the cow we’re going to buy?

Sure!  We’re proud of the way we raise our animals, and we like people to understand what goes into producing their food.  So ask all the questions you want, and if you’d like to see our cattle, we’re happy to show you around.

Why can’t I buy beef right away?

We want the beef you buy to be fresh and cut exactly how you want it.  We also want to let our animals finish out at an appropriate age and weight on high quality, green forages to give the best meat quality.  To to this, we have to wait until the time is right, and then we cut your beef to your exact specifications.  You do have to wait, but we think the wait makes for a better product and a better value.
